The “Weitz Center for Development Studies” is a non-profit NGO engaged in planning, training, consulting and research of rural regional development issues in less developed regions. The Center was established in Rehovot, Israel in 1963. It is a daughter company of the “Jewish Agency for Israel”. The major specializations of the Center include Integrated Rural Development, Macro economic projections, Sectoral Planning and Integration, Income Generating Activities in Rural Areas, Local Economic Development, Rapid Appraisal, Project Identification and Formulation, evaluation and applied research. The renowned “Rehovot Approach” to Integrated Regional Development planning has been formulated and developed by the Professional staff of the Weitz Center. This distinctive approach has been successfully applied – either on the consultation level or in actual planning together with local planners - in numerous regions worldwide.
