Department of International Relations

The International Relations Department organizes the international activities of the Ministry of Health by initiating and carrying out bilateral relations with health ministries of other countries and by cooperating with international UN organizations and international professional organizations in the fields of health and medicine.

The international activities of the Ministry of Health are carried out through direct contacts with Health ministries, international organizations and medical institutions, and through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in subjects of common interest: bilateral agreements, travel and visits of ministers and official delegations, contacts with international organizations, MASHAV - the Department for International Cooperation and policy statements.

Year 1996

  • Professional assistance and medical equipment for establishing an intensive care unit in a Hospital in Asmara, Eritrea

  • Medical treatment in Israel for victims of the war in Azerbaijan

  • Assistance in vaccination sent to Kyrgyzstan

  • Assistance in vaccination sent to Kazakhstan

  • Medication and bandaging material sent to Uzbekistan

  • Medication and medical equipment sent to Yugoslavia, Odessa, Namibia, Burkina Faso, China, the Caribbean Islands, Mexico, Belarus, Costa Rica

  • Training in Israel in various health and medical fields (AIDS prevention, supervision of food, etc.) for doctors from Cyprus, China, Slovenia, Africa


Years 1997 - 1998

  • Training in Israel in children’s medicine and gastrointerology for doctors from Ukraine

  • Training in Israel in health insurance and primary medicine for doctors Armenia

  • Training in Israel in geriatric medicine, tuberculosis and lung diseases, hospital management, health economics and prmotion of health, infectious diseases and ophthalmology for doctors from Slovakia

  • Training in Israel in mother and child health for doctors from Turkmenistan

  • Medications sent to flood victims in Poland

  • Medical treatment of Romanian girl in Israel (bone marrow transplant plus treatment for one year)

  • Medications sent to Hurricane victims in the Caribbean Islands

  • Medication and medical equipment sent to Ethiopia

  • Medication and dispensable medical equipment sent to the Congo

  • Medical assistance to fire victims in Samara, Russia

  • Medical equipment and medication sent to Earthquake victims in Turkey

  • Training in Israel of doctors from the Ukraine in pediatrics

  • Training in Israel of doctors from Slovakia in ophthalmology

  • Training in Israel of doctors from China in surgery

  • Training in Israel of doctors from Cyprus in mental health

  • Training in Israel of doctors from Russia in emergency medicine


Year 2000
