IDF Field Hospital in Buhj India

IDF Mission to Assist Earthquake Victims In India
5 February 2001

Bodies are still being found, and cremated. Even in this time of great sadness, the field hospital is given new hope from each of the many births that occure there daily.

After a long night by the dedicated medical staff of the Humanitarian Aid Mission, two pregnant Indian women gave birth to healthy, beautiful babies at the IDF Field Hospital's delivery room.

Dr. Shemtempo, in whose home the children's hospital of the IDF Homefront Command was established, received today two premature babies from the Israeli hospital in Bhuj. The babies will remain under the responsibility of Dr. Shemtempo and the many volunteers who assist her until they are out of medical danger and are transferred to their families.

Today the 1000th patient arrived at the field hospital of the Israeli Assistance delegation built in Bhuj.
