Mazal Reford an Israeli woman who heads the Golda Meir Mount Carmel International Training Center (MCTC) has been asked to represent Israel for the next 3 years on the board of the United Nations International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women (INSTRAW).

This is the first time Israel has been elected to the executive board of INSTRAW.

INSTRAW’s objectives are to stimulate and assist the advancement of women and their active and equal partnership in the development process. Its Executive Board comprises 10 members, 2 from each regional group and Ms. Renford will be representing Western European and other states, together with a representative from Spain.

Officials from Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs ministry noted that such an achievement shows Israel’s experience in the contribution to advancement of women worldwide.

Renford’s acceptance to the UN board is credited to the international non governmental and UN division within Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
